Our initial meeting will allow us to get acquainted with each other. We begin by reviewing your dental and medical history and discussing your dental goals and preferences. We encourage you to stay actively engaged in your treatment and to ask questions. In our opinion, an informed and involved patient is most likely to achieve the highest level of health, and we look forward to working with you to achieve this goal.
A clinical examination will allow us to assess your current dental conditions. We take particular care in looking at the entire person, not just an individual tooth. Sometimes people come to us with a single problem but fail to account for how the problem occurred and how it fits with their smile and overall health. Our approach is extremely thorough. We provide an oral cancer screening and an examination of the teeth, gum tissue, jaw joints, and facial muscles.
Once your clinical examination is complete, we will spend time addressing your questions and concerns to explore possible treatment options that best fit your unique needs and conditions. Communication is the key to any successful relationship, and a good understanding of each other’s perspectives significantly increases the opportunities for success.
We will then look at the big picture, including all the data, and create a personalized plan that makes sense for you. We want you to make the best decision possible for your health.
If you have been referred by your general dentist, that relationship will not change. We will be in constant communication with your dentist to coordinate efforts in providing the optimum in overall dental health care.
